82

and so we celebrate.  Because 82 is a big deal and because after 82 years you have some great knowledge and advice to give to all of us who have been fortunate enough to have known you all this time.  You have been the head "rock" in this family for a long time and you've earned it!  You've had one crazy and precious life and shown all of us the "good" to look for in it.  So, of course we celebrated 82 years for Papa Hank.  He's the best.  So, we celebrated by getting together as a family at grammy Ann's house.

and so yes there was a cake with an 8 on it and 2 other candles - get it?  We didn't have "cake" candles so we used big candles
and Papa Hank blew out the candles like a pro

and then we surrounded him with the people he loves the most

and we smile and look ahead because we only hope to make it to 82 years and still going strong like Papa Hank

But before we could indulge ourselves in the sweetness of all the desserts we had a little "pre-thanksgiving" dinner thanks to grammy Ann.....what a way to kick off November I must say.

while this one was determined to climb up in his "big" boy chair all by himself for his early turkey dinner

and he did it with some assistance

and smiled like always

and then "eyed" up a big ol' coke that he thought looked soooo good....lol!

and Mary gave some smiles too.....because that's what kids do....right?!

and then that sweet little boy waited so nicely for his meal

and got some love along the way.....

and Papa Hank enjoyed some wine at his birthday celebration.....he's always one for a little tasting, but then that's about it.

and some more love along the way

even Ebby joined in....

and then after dinner came the "indulging".........indulging in cake, indulging in pumpkin pie, indulging in pecan pie, and even some homemade whip cream.....let's just say we were all stuffed

But you must savor every bite

and try a couple different types of pie as a kid - right?

and then of course after the "indulging" came the cards and presents........the girls read the cards to grandpa

and pinned him with this.....perfect

and while this one would love to "read" cards to papa Hank....he's just not there yet so he settles for a spoon to entertain the adults with

So, Happy Birthday Papa Hank!  You are truly the best!  Today is your actual birthday and we hope you enjoy every minute of it!

And on another note this is just to show you how my little man can rock it in his spider man slippers and a vacuum like nobody else can!

So, here's to Thirsty Thursday!  Hope everyone is gearing up for their weekend!

  1. Sweet! Love the progression of Grey's faces in the family pics. Scrunched nose, staring off and then the finger in the nose...lol!
