Welcome to Kindergarten

Where toddlers are always welcome especially when they come to "help" or should I say take out what their mommies have put together. 

Well, to start, I kicked off the week with some autism training.  I have to be honest I wasn't looking forward to it, but I am SO glad I went.  We even had some tears with it because of course it was about those special kids that we NEED to know how to handle and make them succeed just how we want our own kids to do.  But, sometimes we need to have a different approach to get them where they need to be.  It was a great workshop and a great refresher for me and it is a vital thing in today's teaching "world"......So much has changed even since I first started teaching and that hasn't been that long and we need to flow right along with the changes so that we keep these kids going in the right direction.  We have a great team to work with at our school as well so that ALL of the things these kids need is available.  That always makes it easier when you have the right "team" and we sure do.  However, being in this class and seeing what kids actually go through along with their parents everyday, just made me come home and squeeze my little one even tighter than I usually do. 

He even "helped" me yesterday - Or should I say - HE. TOOK. IT. ALL. IN.  starting with Karen's office (our secretary who I LOVE) Grey started with her fish tank where he saw FROGS - he was amazed because he doesn't see that in our fish tank at home -hah!  now we will be going out and buying frogs (maybe).  Then he moved onto her coloring books but that brought on some scribbling so we quickly put that away and moved onto my room where Grey had pretty much full range of the place....

He especially liked crawling up on my desk.

His little hands could not grab the stuff fast enough.

Then it was onto the magnets.....you can never have enough clip magnets in kindergarten.  There's always a new "rule" to clip up ;)

Then he indulged in some magnetic letters....

at the chalkboard.

But then decided the chalkboard wasn't good enough so he brought the letters to a table where he thought he broke the container....he kept saying -"uh-oh mommy"

He was in every drawer he could reach.

Then he pulled out letter flashcards and being the teacher that I am I started to go through them with him (you know thought okay-learning opportunity) yeah right.....he lasted for maybe 2 of them-hah!

then the little stinker pulled over one of my little chairs and climbed up on the back wall by the "welcome owl"

He thought he was being funny -so instead of pulling him down - I grab my camera.

Okay enough with the owl Grey -let's try the kitchen area?!

Well he liked the phones....imagine that.

and said Hellooooo many times....

but then decided to put the phone in the fridge...we have to work on "where" things go I guess...

This is our little "in-line" chant we do so I tried to chant to Grey but by the time I finished saying it he was on to to something else-lol!

That sums up what we have been up to this week so far.  I didn't get everything done I needed to but I am getting there.  SO, for now, Grey thinks mommy's classroom is the coolest place a kid could be!  Hope he feels the same way when he actually starts school-right?!

Not a good start to Summer Break

Well today was "our" first official day of summer break and Grey and I are BOTH sick.  I know, none of us can get passed this.  It's terrible!  Last week it was the pukes for all three of us and now another bug. 

Yesterday I woke up with a TERRIBLE sore throat.  I have always been prone to sore throats so I can handle most of them, but this one was different.  It was the type where I could see my swollen glands on my neck-gross....it was the kind where my neck was stiff it hurt so bad-gross....and yes I had Nate shine a flash light in it while I held a mirror and it was so freakin' nasty-gross...so flippin' RED and some yucky puss pockets---sorry -if it's a little too graphic for you...lol!

And for Grey, he has had a terrible cough, red bottom, and he has been pulling at his ear for a few days.  So, today I woke up and said that's it...I'm calling the doctor for both of us.  I know Grey is teething, but he was still acting different and I didn't care I wanted US to be seen-that's what insurance is for -right?!.  So Grey and I took a quick bath and we were off to our appt. for 1:20-it's nice going to the same place for a change.  You see our Dr. is out this week so we had to be seen by Dr. Calderon who is a family physician and I really liked him.  He checked us both out and it turns out that Greyson has an ear infection in his left ear only, but his lungs sounded clear, so that was good.  And as for me, Dr Calderon's exact words when he shined his light in my throat was "that's an icky one isn't it?"  So, Grey and I are both on prescriptions now.  Hopefully they kick in soon and we can ALL get a full night's sleep, because that has been far and few between since Grey has been under the weather.

But here comes the other problem...................NATE!  Now he is so paranoid that he is going to get sick and he leaves with his dad on Saturday for their annual Minnesota fishing trip.  Say a prayer for us that we all get better and that Nate doesn't get it.  This has been rough.......we just can't get rid of whatever this is.  I hate being sick.

So Grey and I have been on "lockdown"....We've pulled out a bunch of new books, his 4 wheeler is the next best "piece of style" in my family room, and we've seen yo gabba gabba more than ever before.......

So.....................so much for kickin' off summer break "in style"

Sweet Summer Time

Oh how I have missed you!  I am officially DONE with school and honestly I am so happy that I think I could cry!  Really tearing up right now!  I am just thinking about how my sweet baby boy is mine ALL mine now!  I get to spend every waking moment with him and I am thrilled.  Oh how I love summer time.  The smell of suncreen, the smell of chlorine, my flowers, grilling out, watching the cubs, fireworks, late night walks, seeing the "night" bugs light up in the grass, and just being with my family and friends.  You just have to love it.....

And this is the little guy that I was talking about that's ALL MINE now and I am going to enjoy every single second of him.  Just you and me buddy!  Yep ketchup face and all!

And I bought this for Grey yesterday too!  See, it has his name picture written ALL over it!  I get that Grey will really not know how to "use" it right now, but at least it will cool him off and me too!

On another note....maybe you should wish me luck with the slip-n-slide because this was Grey on Livy's last year and this just cracks me up!  Check out that face!

 

So good ol' summer time is here to stay!  I have really missed you!

He knows who is MAMA is!

Yesterday I had to "take in" a very precious moment to me. I really have not had this yet. I think it's because we are never really around too many different people. We are always with grammy Ann, grammy Joyce, or Aunt Amy and of course me......his mommy!

When I pick Grey up after work I always of course get a hug and a kiss but then it's back to what he was doing....like hey mom I know you just got back from work but I'm busy here....kinda thing...Well yesterday Grey and I ran to the mall and now when i go there we usually have to make a pit stop at the play area there....Grey LOVES it! Well, Grey was playing and I was following him around like a proud mama just smiling at him the whole way and he was crawling at the time and NOT looking up....well I was not too far but he got to this ladies foot looked up with this really WEIRD face that I had never seen before looked like he was ready to cry BUT then he SPOTTED ME and it really did melt my heart. He got the biggest, widest grin on his face and literally ran to me like he hadn't seen me in "ages." It really made my day....it was really nothing.....but it was a BIG something to me! I love you Grey!
