Love where you Live

I must say the Midwest is the place to be in the Fall...the cool crisp weather, pumpkin patches galore, the beautiful/colorful changing leaves...I love this time of year.  I love pulling out my scarves, boots, and sweaters...the soups, the chillis, all that fall food...the football games...everything about it is fun!

Pumpkins are lining our front porch right now.  A few of them I picked and there are two little special ones that my kids picked out.  I think we will paint some this year and carve a few.  I'm sure sister will have a hay day with the paint...and so will Grey!

And then along my kitchen counter are also weekly tickets on the football games...the culprit of those will remain nameless;)  But, that's always a sure sign that it's Fall at our house...that and the weekly trip to Sip's.

This past weekend I was bound and determined to take my crew to some fall festivities.  I wanted my kids to pick pumpkins, ride a pony, run through a corn maze...we are making memories and it's a tradition that we go do these things in the Fall...

We went to the Burgoo on Sunday.  Nate said he hadn't been there in probably 10 years...that sounds weird...so we decided to go.  The streets were blocked off and lined with tons of booths...taffy apples, crafts, funnel cakes...you name it....they had it...

Grey picked up a nifty little flute to play...at least I knew where he was at all times;)

And before we could even walk a block this is what we spotted!  Neither Grey or Nate could contain themselves....

Nate was so excited he made a donation;)

Sailor was 'stuffed' into her stroller pretty good...we enjoyed the people watching, the scents, and all the Fall sights...

First thing we did was grab some orange balloons and tied them to wrists...

we also grabbed a funnel cake that we all pretty much scarfed down...

Grey didn't want to hold my hand...big crowds scare me so I was actually glad he had the flute...and I also kept a tight grip on his hood....probably choking him only 2 times - not on purpose of course-ha!  And believe me I heard about it...Something like - "mommy you're SQUEEEEEZING my neck"

walking through crowds of people is just part of it...a good break from the 'city' life...for these two...

Grey asked for cotton candy ALLLLLLLLLLLL day.....so Dee Dee and him stood in a LONGGGG line...but ended up with some cotton candy AND fries...so it was worth it...

We sat down where Grey indulged in his cotton candy while sister was entertained with the flute and her balloon...

Let's do our happy face, shall we...

We enjoyed every bit of our time with Uncle Just and Ellary this weekend....they always get a good 'taste' of the Midwest when they are home...

Thursday's Post

Little words this morning because I'm running a little late.  Just some pics of our life lately.


We have this nice little park right down the street from us, so most afternoons we go there...Sister was all puma'd out;)  Nate had me laughing because he said she looked like a race car driver - haha!

oops not happy...but I couldn't resist...

and this little guy can be found with his wranglers pulled up and his cowboy boots on...

Sister loves a good swing....probably one of the only times she'll sit for something...

This was the other evening after school....it was a little chilly....

 

They love to ride with Nate on the mower...no, I know it's not the safest thing but it's only for a second...long enough for me to take some pics and then they are off...

I wanted a pic with sis but she wasn't having it...

but my little buddy jumped right in my arms...

A Fall kind of weekend...

We had a nice layed back kind of weekend.  I was able to get my fall stuff up, clean my house, grade some papers, and hang out with my family.  That usually doesn't ALL get done.  I'm loving this weather.  I had the urge to pull out my pumpkin/spice candle and let that baby burn.

We had a fish fry down at Ernat's Saturday night and I didn't pull my camera out for ONE picture.  I didn't feel like it last night, but today I was sad about it.  We had fried blue gill, crappie, and grilled salmon.  I hesitated to try the salmon but it was delish!  My kids ran around with all the other kids all night.

 Today we lounged a bit, watched the bears game while the kids napped, and then we enjoyed the beautiful weather for a while.

Grey is looking all rugged these days in his new cowboy boots...grammy Ann picked him up a pair at Rural King...it's hilarious - he's worn them just about everyday;)

 

We decided to do some fishing just as the sun was about to set...we soon found out we weren't catching any fish so we ordered a pizza instead...

But we did play in a little bit of sand...Sailor wasn't to nuts about it...

 

 This little guy though is always up for an adventure...it's weird but Grey seems so much more mature just from starting pre-school.  They grow up so fast.  That's why these times are so important.

Sailor was stuck to my leg most of the time...

And yes this would be the delightful 'happy' face that Sailie does....and yes that would be snot running out of her nose and into her mouth...we seem to be having a lot of runny noses around here...

And right before we left, Nate caught a fish...perfect timing...

It felt so good to have my camera out today!!!  As you can see, we have the bears jerseys out and the fall boots on...

 bring on the sunflowers...
