Yard work and kickin' off summer...

My next big project here is our landscaping.  I've been really 'working' on this since March.  I've been googling different things and pinning things on pinterest like crazy.  I'm actually really getting into it.  Personally, I think landscaping can make or break the outside of your home.  With that being said, we've been working with a few local nurseries because I want a professional 'plan'.  However, we still have not narrowed it down as to what we are going to do.  I have 3 plans in my purse right now and for the past couple weeks I've made my mom drive around with me at night and look at various different landscapes;)

I did go buy some perrenials last week because I got on one of my 'kicks' and thought 'I' can just do this, so this is what I have right now in my front yard.

I know I like the barberry bushes, boxwoods, hastas, and daylilies.  I just need someone to come here and tell me where to plant them now:)


I do know that I can't look at my front yard like this much longer...It's driving me absolutely CRAZY!

So, that's what I've been doing here ALL week.  Nate was on his annual fishing trip and got home Friday afternoon.  The kids were so excited to see him.



Other than that, our first week of summer was only in the 70s so not quite swimming weather yet.

More Pics from our Saturday

Here are just some more pics from our Saturday afternoon.  Uncle Alex came by to visit us too and just some good ol' sandbox fun as well!

So then I told Nate to show him what I meant...it made for a pretty cool picture..

Then we tried for a family photo.....but not too much luck this time.....

A day for Yard Work

Well it's that time again.....to plant my flowers.  I finally went on Saturday, the three of us went, and Nate finally saw what I spend on flowers... a LOT!~  I needed to get them planted and I did really buy a lot this year that ALL go in my FRONT flat.  I packed that baby in so I can't wait to see when they really bloom!  Last year I went with some sweet potato plants as accents, but Nate said he didn't like that.  So this year I went with some asparagus fern, some coleus, and some vinca vine....along with my vinca flowers and of course the spikes.....So we came home, unloaded the truck, put Grey down for a nap, and Nate and I headed out to do yard work

and while Nate was doing that I got my gloves on and started planting my flowers....I was hunched over like this for a while so needless to say my back was really hurting me Saturday night

Then, this little man came roaring over the monitor, and luckily I was done with my planting or I would have had one muddy toddler to clean up as well
