Under the Weather

We have been under the weather for about the last week, but we are headed uphill....Thank goodness.  Starting last Thursday, Greyson started with a runny nose and cough.  I knew he wasn't feeling very good and then it turned to diarrhea and a low grade fever on Sunday.  The loose stools just ended yesterday on Wednesday. His poor little bottom has been so sore.

Nate and I both took off the beginning of the week because it was so bad.  After each bowel movement I would just put Grey in the shower because that's the only thing that felt good to him.  After about 3 days of it I finally called the doctor because I was getting scared.  Scared of dehydration and he was not eating much at all, but he was drinking which I new was good.  They told me we were doing everything we were supposed to be doing and his fever had stopped on Monday which was good.  We were giving him watered down 7up and gatorade.  I was trying the BRAT diet but he wasn't much for anything.  So, he has been in love with popscicles.  Hey I didn't care just as long as it was something.  He's only 28lbs and he's tall.  He looks so skinny to me right now and you can feel all his little ribs when you pick him up.  The diarrhea finally stopped last night, at least I hope so.  He has not had any today, but his bottom is still red but we are taking care of it.  He is also starting to get back to his sweet little self.  His eyes were just not the same until today.  There is nothing worse than a sick little baby and he has really had a bug.

This has been our week together.  Not what you want, but I'm just glad he's better.

Not a good start to Summer Break

Well today was "our" first official day of summer break and Grey and I are BOTH sick.  I know, none of us can get passed this.  It's terrible!  Last week it was the pukes for all three of us and now another bug. 

Yesterday I woke up with a TERRIBLE sore throat.  I have always been prone to sore throats so I can handle most of them, but this one was different.  It was the type where I could see my swollen glands on my neck-gross....it was the kind where my neck was stiff it hurt so bad-gross....and yes I had Nate shine a flash light in it while I held a mirror and it was so freakin' nasty-gross...so flippin' RED and some yucky puss pockets---sorry -if it's a little too graphic for you...lol!

And for Grey, he has had a terrible cough, red bottom, and he has been pulling at his ear for a few days.  So, today I woke up and said that's it...I'm calling the doctor for both of us.  I know Grey is teething, but he was still acting different and I didn't care I wanted US to be seen-that's what insurance is for -right?!.  So Grey and I took a quick bath and we were off to our appt. for 1:20-it's nice going to the same place for a change.  You see our Dr. is out this week so we had to be seen by Dr. Calderon who is a family physician and I really liked him.  He checked us both out and it turns out that Greyson has an ear infection in his left ear only, but his lungs sounded clear, so that was good.  And as for me, Dr Calderon's exact words when he shined his light in my throat was "that's an icky one isn't it?"  So, Grey and I are both on prescriptions now.  Hopefully they kick in soon and we can ALL get a full night's sleep, because that has been far and few between since Grey has been under the weather.

But here comes the other problem...................NATE!  Now he is so paranoid that he is going to get sick and he leaves with his dad on Saturday for their annual Minnesota fishing trip.  Say a prayer for us that we all get better and that Nate doesn't get it.  This has been rough.......we just can't get rid of whatever this is.  I hate being sick.

So Grey and I have been on "lockdown"....We've pulled out a bunch of new books, his 4 wheeler is the next best "piece of style" in my family room, and we've seen yo gabba gabba more than ever before.......

Sick :(

It really started on Sunday when Greyson woke up and I knew he felt really warm. And mommy was not feeling so good from the night before. Let's just say mommy does not get out much and she had a couple vodka and cranberry's at Monari's Saturday with daddy! Grey was there too with us of course but then grammy and papa Ernat offered to take him back home since Uncle Just was home and we went out after dinner too! Anyway, I have mentioned that Grey and I both have been fighting colds...well Grey's turned a little worse with a fever of 103......I HATE fevers! I know all the "stuff" about them but I just don't like them. So, Sunday we spent the whole day inside laying around, rocking together, and reading books. I took off Monday and Nate took off Tuesday. The fever finally broke on Monday, but he is still completely blocked and the doctor just told me to keep on with what I've been doing. You moms know.....motrin.....some mommy love.......suck out boogers (while Grey throws a major fit)......some mommy love.......saline nasal spray.....some mommy love........clean out humidifier.......some mommy love.........keep pushing fluids......some mommy love.........won't eat food so how about some popsicles......and then some mommy love of course....You know the drill and that's the drill we've been doing since Sunday!

These things have been essential in the Ernat house lately!!!


Grey watched way more TV than he is used to!
