Superbowl Sunday!

Last night we headed over to our friends and cousins house Justin and Kathi Witek! It has become an annual thing at their house for the superbowl. It's also nice because they have a little boy Landon! Justin and I are 1st cousins (my dad and his mom are brother & sister) so that would make Landon and Greyson third? right? We were trying to figure that out last night actually, because Landon would be my 2nd?

Anyway Grey and Landon are about 1 month apart so it was fun to see them play with eachother and interact. Now, I know you have heard me talk about this before, but Grey is around girls a lot so it was great to be around some rough and tuff boysssssss! lol! Grey loved all of Landon's toys!

Let's see your stuff....checkin' eachother out...

Grey loves to vacuum with either Nate or I...so he loved Landon's toy vacuum....

Then they decided to clean together...

Then Grey got the dust buster....

Landon also has the Handy Manny tool set just like Grey....

Come on buddy I'll pull you!

Hey, where you goin???

They played really well with eachother and were buddies last night!!!

The Name Game

I was just thinking today as I was rocking Greyson how hard it is to come up with a name, so I thought I would do a post of how we came up with Grey's name!

___________

You know we all want that one unique, kinda cool, yet traditional kinda name, but that can be kinda difficult to find. The whole time I was pregnant with Grey I kept a list inside my jewelry box...don't know why that was the place it just kinda ended up in there and we would pull it out every so often and add to it or eliminate from it. We didn't start thinking of names until after we found out we were having a little boy! I also had a DEFINITE list of names we could NOT name him because with being a teacher you come across many names that just canNOT be! For example, Nate really liked the name Dylan (because of Bob Dylan...lol-go figure for Nate) but I had a Dylan in my class the first year (that's all I'm gonna say) and I just could not have that name for my son. You know what I mean!

_______________

Anyway, one day Nate was watching some surf show (go figure again) and in the credits at the end he saw the name Grayson and he brought it to my attention. He really liked it right away and the whole way through my pregnancy. And although, I liked it right away as well it kept fading in and out for me. I would really LOVE it and then I would get away from it kinda thing. I had never really heard it and I have yet to have one in my class. hah! I also really LOVED the name Grant...Grant Michael Ernat. I still do! I don't know why it was a G-thing with me for a little while but not all the names I liked started with G and I really don't want my children's names to all start with the letter G... that is I hope to have more someday ;)

--------------

And another name we liked was.............Krew....I can still go either way with it....and believe it or not those were the two names we went to the hospital with Greyson and Krew. (Dbabe was very happy we did not go with Krew...she was very clear in telling me that afterwards...lol) I really can't even remember about Krew-I think I saw it in a magazine. I really liked it at first and Nate was just okay with that one the whole time but got better with it towards the end. So on our way to the hospital I had a piece of paper in my pocket that read:

----------------------------

Greyson Lee Ernat

Krew Michael Ernat

----------------------------

We did not name Greyson right away of course because I was in recovery for an hour and no one was aloud to touch Greyson before me - I like that rule by the way! It's kinda funny because we have it on video my mom asking Nate if we decided on a name as they were all staring at Grey in the nursery through the window....because none of them knew and they were dying to know what it was going to be and Nate still never told....lucky for him....I would have been mad! hah!

---------------------

Anyway, I knew Nate wanted Greyson and we both were not totally sold on Krew! So that's how the name came to be and as far as the middle name...all The Ernat boys have the middle name of Lee...and I thought GrEyson with an E in it looked much more masculine so I guess at least I got to pick the spelling. Nate definitely picked the name....and I LOVE it! I just always tell him that I definitely get to pick the next one's name!

-------------------------------

It's funny because I look at Grey now and it's true he's just a Greyson and it fits him....there's no other name for him and I really do love it. I still have not heard it much at all, but I have a feeling it will get popular...maybe not but either way it was the perfect name for our first born son!

-----------------

So, come on my blogger friends...how did you come up with your baby names? I would love to read about it!!!

And although the name really doesn't have a spectacular meaning or anything other than...gray-haired...how about this:

The park in February...

Who goes to the park in February around here?
We do!

Who likes to bundle up and get some fresh air?
We do!

Who gets excited when you live in Illinois and temps start reaching back into the 30s?
We do! (insert sarcasm here)

Who LOVES to be outside?
We do! (really Greyson but I needed 'we';)

Who likes it when we are the only two people in the park?
We do!

Okay okay, I'll stop! Yesterday after I picked Grey up I had to run to the grocery store so I thought we'll just stop at the park. We don't care that the groundhog said 6 more weeks of winter...what does that hog know anyway?.... and believe it or not it felt warm to me. How bad is that...it reaches to 35 and it feels warm. NOT good! So, we literally stayed for 10 minutes but it was long enough for Grey to walk around, swing on the swings, and get some fresh air. He LOVES to be outside and run FREE.

He went for the "bouncy" thing first...

Checkin' out the area and where to go next?

My photography...lol!

Then we made it over to the swings....I really wish Greyson would have kept on his mittens but no luck with that...

still swingin'

swingin' some more...

I think I want off....

He wanted to run around...

This is what happened when I told Grey it was time to go "bye-bye"

So I tried the binkie and although it worked at first...

When we pulled away in my car he was pretty mad :(

But then it was all good at the grocery store because the deli lady gave him a cookie! lol! I'm also starting to get excited because it is staying lighter outside longer. It used to get dark by 4:30...woot! woot!

Egyptian Magic...

A little tip I wanted to share with all of you.

A couple months back Greyson had a really red bottom and a couple times I was so upset about it because I can't imagine how painful that is. I had to call the doctor twice for him and she ended up calling in two prescriptions for him that honestly never really helped. So, my aunt Amy told me about Egyptian Magic cream. It's really for any type of skin issue and let me tell you it has really helped. This stuff is awesome. It is expensive but it is worth it and a little bit goes a long way. I have been using it on Grey's bottom and he hasn't had any problems. If you google the cream it should come up right away and you can order it.

Just a tip I wanted to share with all of you. My aunt Amy says she uses it on chapped lips, dry hands...just about anything!

15 months

It's fun to look back and compare so here is just a snapshot of Grey from 12 months to 15 months...he looks so big now....like a little boy...(I'm tearing up now)

12 months old 15 months old

My sweet little baby boy is exactly 15 months old today! He is pretty much doing the same stuff as I wrote about for 14 months. HOwever, I would have to say the NEWEST stuff with Grey is that he's literally running now to get anywhere, he is really starting to enjoy books and being read to, his mouth is full of BIG white teeth and his upper right side is very very swollen waiting for that molar to break through...oh and if you come to my house you will still see Grey with either a remote in hand or on the phone...lol!

Happy 15 months Grey...we love you...these were just some pics I took of Grey last night!

Grandma Joyce turned 75!

Greyson's great grandma Joyce...my #1 grandma turned 75 yesterday on 1-31-10! It was something to celebrate for sure! We love her dearly and don't know where we'd be without her!!! She does so much for all of us! And when I say SO much you really have no idea unless you are in this family kinda thing. They are definitely the HEAD HONCHOS around here and that's the way we like it! ;)

We all celebrated with Lunch and Cake at the Maples. Greyson had just gotten up from his nap and we dressed him all up for his grandma and grandpa of course. He even wore his bow tie! I do have to say he was a little crabby FOR HIM that is but I think his top right molar is going to break through...his eyes just did not look the same to me yesterday.

Trying to get the whole crew and the queen at the head of the table...take 1
