Friday Happenings...

Friday we went with our friends to a local schools health and safety fair.  It was for birth to 5 year olds.  Lots of free stuff, cool giveaways, cool displays, and goodies for the kids.  Here is Grey with his friend Landon.

Grey got to talk to a police man and a fireman.  He was excited!  He also talked to the dentist about his teeth.  I still need to take Grey for a check up, which will be coming very soon!

And Sailor chewed on the stickers Grey gave her;)

After that we played with Landon for a bit before heading home.  Once we got home Greyson raided through his bag of stuff.  Favorites included glasses, a key chain flashlight, and a toothbrush.

Sailor waited patiently for a snack...

Then we played...Sails looked so cute in her Sailor outfit.  I must admit whenever I shop and I see something red, white, and blue....or navy and white....or some type of sailor theme - I immediately want to buy it for her...

 Love these cheekers...

and some lovin' on his sissy

Then it was down for naps...

An Evening at the Lake

It feels like Spring around here.  There has been nowhere else for us to be other than outside.  From the minute Grey wakes up he has been asking to break 'free'...

It feels good to have all my windows open in the house and the heat turned OFF.  The only thing that I can clearly see is that I need to do some serious SPRING cleaning (for example-CLEAN MY WINDOWS!)...What's on your Spring cleaning 'to do' list?  That could be a whole other post, right?!  blah blah blah - boo to cleaning...

moving on........

Last night we took the kids out to Lake Wildwood.  It's a little bit of a drive so we tried to 'make out' some clouds along the way...We agreed on a whale and an excavator in the sky;)

It's always a process for us to reach our destination...between making sure I have everything for the kids and packing up the car and yada yada yada...but it's always well worth it.  Last night called for our mini grill, some food, a cooler, a soccer ball, and of course a diaper bag.

Nate has been biting at the bit for some Spring fishing.

Sailor and I enjoyed the view while Nate fished...I kept saying "it's so calming out here"...if I said that to Nate once I said it 10 more times and every time he agreed:)

Another fishing buddy for daddy...he's one lucky guy because now he has two fishing partners...
(Grey had fallen asleep in the car for a little bit so we let him sleep since he decided to boycott his nap earlier)

Sailor didn't know what to do with the wind...she kept having to catch her breath...

Once Grey woke up we headed right for the sandy beach...

and I watched my family walk the dock...I'm so THANKFUL for these people...

Sailor and I watched the boys kick the soccer ball around for a bit....

The sand felt good between our toes....and of course it was EVERYWHERE else by the time we got home:)

Future lifeguard on duty?  What do you think?

This is Nate's new little purchase...a mini grill....it was our first time using it and it worked pretty darn good for $30...

After supper we spent some time on the playground...

Sailor was getting the BIGGEST KICK out of Greyson going down the slide.

HE was our entertainment!!!

And to end the night we hit up some swings...

Swings at sunset is LOVE at first sight.... :)

Great family night...

Happy Friday to you and yours!

Holiday Baking with Grandma Joyce

This is Christmas to my grandma.  Her holiday baking.  It would not be Christmas without her cookies.  This year she made about 18 different kinds.  They are in their separate containers and in the attic to stay cool.  Trust me I know because I brought a lot of those containers up the stairs to that attic.  They will stay there until she brings them ALL down and puts them on pretty Christmas plates and brings them to the special people that LOVE her cookies every single year.

If you had walked into my grandmas kitchen last week you would have found every kind of nut, chocolate, fruit can, and cookie dough imaginable.  Little sprinkles of flour and sugar in various places were pieces of evidence as well.

And this little man enjoyed some baking to.

He rolled out cookie dough.

And he did very good with the cut outs if I do say so myself...

Hands were hard at work and by the end of the day that kitchen was shot-ha!

There were candy canes, gingerbread men, christmas trees, bells...you name it -we had it...

setting them out to cool...

These would have been the snicker cookies...one of my faves...

And in between baking Grandma Joyce squeezed in time to feed Sailor her squash

And this frosting called for some Apricot Brandy...The lil baby that was there who will remain nameless had a taste of it....and I think 'she' liked it;)

Another wonderful tradition for my children to experience over the holidays!

Actually we still have to frost the sugar cookies which is on the agenda for Thursday.  Grey keeps reminding me:)
