Well Greyson has his first major FEVER and he is just not our GREYSON.
It started on Thursday when my mom called me at work and said that when Grey got up from his nap he felt warm to her. So, she took his temp and it was up. She gave him some motrin. I was almost ready to call a sub, but then she called me again and said that he was "dancing" and "crawling" all over the place and that he seemed fine. The motrin had obviously kicked in and by this time my day was almost over so I did not leave school. However, when I got home Grey was just laying there and still had a temp. So, on Thursday the temp was about 102/103. I called my doctor right away because I just did not want to mess around, but naturally they were not there so I called this OSF hotline that they said to! The nurse said switch between tylenol and motrin every 4 hours and keep taking his temp. to make sure that the meds are bringing it down to a COMFORTABLE level. I have read about fevers in the past and do know somewhat about them. I know Grey's body is fighting something off and I have a book that tells which numbers are low, moderate, and high and when they should be seen. But, as a first time mom it's just SCARY when your little one canNOT tell you what is wrong or what hurts:( So we just kept on for Thursday night with the meds and we alternated. Let me tell you Thursday night was rough....We were up every couple hours taking Grey's temp and it was staying between 102 and 103. I think it dropped to 101 but that was about it.
Then, Friday came and I did not have to go to school so that was good. All Grey did yesterday was lay on me. He really did not move and that is just NOT our GREY! So, I know he is really not feeling good. Friday I did the same thing kept switching between tylenol and motrin but it still was not budging so I called Dr. Running again and they said with where his temp was at there was really nothing they could do because he had no other symptoms, so I opted not to take him out and just do what I was doing. Well then when he woke up from his afternoon nap - he slept from 2-4:30 and when I took his temp is was 104. I know it is still not in the danger zone but i was SCARED so I called the doctors and wanted to take him in but they were not there anymore...MY LUCK! So the nurse told us on the phone that we should prob. take him in just to be safe now that is was rising.
To the ER it was. It was not an emergency but there is no where else to go and let me tell you it was nuts in there.
Greyson had NO visible signs as to what was causing the fever so they wanted to run tests on him....I was a mess and so was he. This started at 5 and we did not get home until 8pm.
They pricked him for blood, they did a urine test, they did a lung X-ray, and a nasal swap. Fortunately, they all came back really good. But, Greyson was soooooooooooooo PISSED!~ that is really the only way to put it. He has a lot of different cries that I can tell the difference and this one was his pissed off cry. we were all ready to come home. They took his temp again before we left and it was 103.5 so they gave him motrin and told me to do what we were doing. IT has been a long couple of days and Grey's fever has still not broken. I know this can go on too! So, we are not leaving the house all weekend. I am glad he was seen by a doctor though. Fevers are just scary! Please keep Grey in your prayers.
PS. this is really the first time this little man has been sick and he is so loved. The minute our families heard I am not kidding you they all stopped by! My mom came back later on Thurs. night. Grammy Deb and Papa Davey came over to see him Thurs. Then auntie Mims. Uncle Just called numerous times. Then Friday morning grammy Ann and Uncle Alex came over and Papa Mike called numerous times because he was working.
They were all really worried!
